What makes RASCI Workshops unique?
  • Workshops are intensive, personal with limited attendence.
  • Workshops are presented monthly and participants can attend as many workshops as they wish to.
  • The one-day workshops are presented on Satrudays to ensure minimal interference with participants' schedules.
  • The two-day workshops are presented over weekends to ensure minimal interference with participants’ schedules.
  • Anatomy teaching is applied to functional anesthetic anatomy.
  • Anatomy teaching is cadaver-based.
  • A live demonstration of all the upper and lower extremity peripheral nerve and plexus blocks and catheterization techniques will be performed on volunteers in the operating room by experts in the field of Regional Anesthesia.
  • Participants are divided in groups of four and each subgroup practices all the blocks and catheter techniques on an anesthetized non-paralyzed pig specifically dedicated for that subgroup. There is a a dedicated teacher for each subgroup.
  • After each participant has placed his or her "best" block or catheter, it is left in situ and India ink is injected via the catheter for dissection after euthanasia of the animals (while still fully anesthetized) at the end of the workshop to confirm correct catheter or block placement.
  • Where possible RASCI invites experts from all over the world to act as guest faculty from time to time (See Faculty).
